    Colors in fashion

There are as many ideas for styling and creating fashion as there are people.

Before we create our own street fashion, we need to know the basic rules of color combination.

What is the color wheel used for? It indicates the basic colors that we should combine with various shades to compose attractive stylizations. The rule is that we should choose colors that are opposite each other, e.g. navy blue with yellow, orange with blue. Want to be more toned? Combine colors that are adjacent to each other, e.g. – blue with green, navy blue with purple.

    What about trendy pastel colors?>

Until recently, pastel, bright clothes were considered not very elegant and unsuitable for official events. Yes, make sure you choose the right styling for the occasion, but don’t let yourself go crazy. Pastel clothes can be with you everywhere. Don’t be afraid to experiment – put on a blue, pink suit, but choose classic accessories. Put on a mint jacket but with navy blue jeans. ha! Combine pastels with pastels, but remember one important rule – don’t be “too sweet” in all this. To confirm – see the new Sportalm collection in the www.donomoda.pl boutique, which offers pastel colors for every occasion.

Pastel clothes only in summer? It’s a myth!

For several seasons, top designers have been serving winter collections in bright shades. Wool beige coats, mint gloves and a blue hat. What about extras? We are for it! Suede boots, hats or stoles. Bright winter clothes look great, and if we are looking for confirmation, let’s look at the world’s biggest stars and their urban look. Let’s try to choose delicate jewelry that will not disturb the unique character of the styling.ną biżuterię, która nie zakłóci wyjątkowego charakteru stylizacji.

We decided to take a look at the flagship brand of the Dono da Scheggia boutique. What does Sportalm offer this spring? Pastel colors! We combine pastels with black and white. We wear casual clothes in bold colors like Apple or Hoori. We choose minimalist accessories – sandals, high heels from Casadei. Sportalm takes care of us even during training – leggings Flush, pants Zodiac-fashionable and comfortable.

    Fashion knows no age.

Despite your older age, do not limit yourself in putting on colorful clothes! Don’t stereotype that as a lady in your 50s or 60s, you should fill your wardrobe with dark, serious clothes. Nothing similar! Top fashion magazines more and more often dress their covers with mature women, and fashionable, self-confident seniors walk the catwalk.

Fashion is fashion, but remember that you are the creator of your style according to your own vision and sense of aesthetics.

    Color psychology

Until recently, there was a belief that the clothes we wear should fulfill their functions and be comfortable and suited to every occasion. But have you ever wondered what the colors you just put on today say about you?

    Guess who am I? 🙂

Color psychology is otherwise known as color symbolism or non-verbal communication. It can perfectly reflect our:

    • character
    • the mood we’re in right now
    • attitude to work or personal life.

Our subconscious is responsible for the choice of a given color of clothes. It decides what we reach for in the wardrobe, and awareness helps us decide on the fact of wearing it.

From a psychological point of view, knowing the symbolism of color allows us to communicate better with other people and help in difficult situations.

Let’s get to know each other better!

Have you thought about what colors you should wear to a family party, an interview or what to wear to a formal event?

At my aunt’s name day … surprise everyone in pastel colors! These are perfect colors for unofficial family gatherings. Let’s reach for them especially in spring and summer. Pastel goes perfectly with white, grey, brown and black. Then there is no restriction in the selection of jewelry, which should be a mandatory element of the wardrobe.

It has been known for a long time that the navy blue color and its derivatives prove our professionalism both at work and when we apply for a job. Unfortunately, the dress code in many companies is very conservative – supported by proven standards, e.g. black dresses are perfect for women holding managerial positions, while those who maintain frequent contact with the client look perfect with navy blue and dark blue clothes.

Each of us, on the occasion of great events, observes famous personalities from the world of fashion and cinema, in which they shone that evening. Do standards even then apply? Yes, evening parties are a great opportunity to wear a red, fuchsia or purple dress. It is also worth reaching for burgundy or cobalt. What about the white color? Absolutely, but we must make sure that the dress is made of high-quality material!

A play of colors in sports fashion

Before each season, fashion houses outdo each other in setting trends – cuts – colors. A perfect example is the Sportlam brand, whose clothes can be bought in our Dono da Scheggia boutique. In the latest spring / summer 2020 collection, it shows how to cleverly combine sports style with elegance and how to play with colors. Designers know perfectly well that color psychology also works in sports fashion. In addition to high-quality materials – Sportlam cares about the aesthetic experience 🙂

What conclusion? Let’s be brave, let’s not be afraid to experiment with colors and accessories. The most important thing is that each of us finds our own style in which we will feel bold and confident 🙂

    Heels. A symbol of femininity

    Feminine and sensual

According to the most famous fashion salons, a high heel is one that is at least nine centimeters long.

Nine centimeters is a symbol of strength, confidence and success.

High heels make us feel feminine, sensual and attractive. They add charm to us, but most of all they slim our calves and the whole figure. Red heels are a classic. We compare them to a little black or red lipstick.

High heels not only for big screen stars

It was from the Dior fashion house that the first high heels in the form we know today were to come from. Their author was Roger Vivera. Then it was downhill – high heels liked movie stars, dresses and skirts were getting shorter, and the heel itself was getting higher. And although the most popular models are still the most classic, designers are still trying to experiment with pins and redefine them. Who knows what they will look like in a hundred years?

High heels will undoubtedly remind us of Marilyn Monroe. It was she who gave the cult of heels as an indispensable element of the wardrobe. We remind her of the famous trick in which she got her hips swinging by shortening one heel by a few centimeters 🙂

In New York, the “stiletto strength” exercise program was created, which teaches not only how to walk properly in narrow heels, but also consists of a special set of exercises to strengthen the muscles of the abdomen, back and ankles. Recently, such classes have also been conducted in Poland.

The exercise method is similar to Pilates, focused on learning grace and grace 🙂

Despite the fact that high heels are not the most comfortable, they are the most popular types of shoes on a woman’s leg.

Ah, these skirts, or a few words about styles

No matter what style we prefer, each of us definitely has it in our wardrobe. In the summer, we wear those made of airy materials with a floral print, accompanied by sandals or high heels, while in winter, we more often reach for those made of leather or suede, combining them with fashionable boots. Today we decided to remind you what styles of skirts we can distinguish and briefly describe what they are characterized by.

    Pencil skirt

This model has enjoyed unflagging popularity among women, regardless of age, for several years. If you like classic and at the same time very feminine stylizations, this cut is made for you! It perfectly emphasizes the waist, but it will look best on slim people with an hourglass figure, with a narrow waist. The only thing to remember is that it should not be too tight, because then it will emphasize all the imperfections that we would prefer to hide 😊. Perfect to create a professional business look. However, it will also be great for evening outings in combination with a T-shirt and a ramones jacket.

    Flared skirt

This cut, extremely fashionable in the 1940s, is probably in most women’s wardrobes, mainly due to its universality. Therefore, if you prefer looser cuts, and in your styling you focus on comfort and femininity, you should reach for this model. Delightful skirt fits almost every woman, regardless of the type of figure, moreover, it provides great wearing comfort, without restricting movement. Do you want to emphasize the waist, or maybe cover more massive thighs? Reach for this model!

    Pleated skirt

A pleated skirt is definitely a must-have of the last seasons! It comes in virtually any length, although most often in the midi version, and its appearance resembles an airy harmonica. It is a very comfortable and airy cut, perfect for dancing, but also for everyday use. It looks best on tall and slim people.

    A-line skirt

This is probably one of the most popular skirt styles that can be found in a woman’s wardrobe. A-line skirt or otherwise referred to as an “A-shaped” skirt is a model that has a narrow top and wide bottom. Perfectly camouflages any imperfections and fits every type of female figure. It perfectly masks extra pounds, as well as curves on the stomach, hips and thighs.

Speaking of styles and lengths of skirts, we cannot forget about one of the must-have elements of a woman’s wardrobe, which is… a black skirt! Timeless black goes well with most clothes, which is why we can wear this model for any occasion. Undoubtedly, another advantage is the fact that the black color beautifully slims the figure 😊

    A brief history of denim

Everyone wears them today. They are universal and perfectly emphasize the figure. They look great both in sports, everyday and very elegant styling. What are we talking about? Of course about JEANS! Get to know their story…

Where did the name “jeans” come from anyway?

The beginnings of the fabric from which jeans were made date back to the 18th century. The word “jeans” comes from the French words “Blue de Gênes”, which means “the blue of Genoa” – a city in Italy where sailor clothes were made. The etymology of the word “denim” is related to the French city of Nimes, where the first denim factory was established.

How has denim evolved over the years?

The biggest influence on the development of jeans was the gold rush in the United States in the mid-nineteenth century. Settlers and gold prospectors were looking for clothes that would be durable and resistant to abrasion and tearing. This is how the first denim pants, patented by Levi Strauss (in cooperation with Jacob Davis), were created, additionally reinforced with copper rivets to protect the material from damage. In the first version, the jeans had two pockets at the front and one at the back, over time, another one was added at the back, and a tiny pocket was sewn inside one of the front pockets, used to store a watch.

Company Levi Strauss & What. began to develop at an unimaginable pace. Over the years, a leather label appeared on the back pockets for brand recognition, depicting the trousers being stretched by two horses. In 1905, the iconic 501 model had its premiere, which is still popular today.

The 1930s was the time when jeans took Hollywood by storm thanks to westerns. And although initially jeans were considered a typically male garment, over time they began to be produced for women as well. It was around this time that Vogue magazine ran an ad showing women wearing close-fitting denim pants. In turn, during World War II, thanks to American soldiers on leave, they spread all over the world.

In the 1950s and 1960s, jeans became a symbol of youthful rebellion, mainly thanks to James Dean, and gained immense popularity among young people. In turn, the stars of world cinema, Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot promoted denim both on the glass screen and in everyday stylizations, showing even more clearly that it is not reserved only for men.

In the 1970s, middle-class people in the United States and Europe began to wear jeans, and specific denim models became symbols of various subcultures. For example, skinheads wore straight-leg jeans, punks loved skinny jeans, and hippies introduced flared jeans with colorful appliqués and embroidery.

Denim peaked in the 1980s. At that time, denim was the total look of any outfit. It was worn from head to toe. In addition to trousers, both men and women wore denim shirts, skirts and jackets.

Since the 1990s, denim pants have become a must-have item in every wardrobe, regardless of the age, gender or profession of the person who wears them. Available in a wide range of colors and styles, they adapt to any figure and can be found practically anywhere.

    Fashion History – 1930s

Sparkling gowns, matching costumes, costume jewellery, hats and veils…

Fashion in the 1930s was very different from that of the previous decade. The biggest changes were related to the economic crisis in 1929, the biggest crisis of the 20th century, which also had a huge impact on the world of fashion. Women began to wear more modest outfits. Natural materials were abandoned in favor of much cheaper, artificial fabrics. It was at this time that nylon and tights appeared, which became the real hit of the decade.

    Fashion minimalism

The modernism prevailing in the 1930s had a huge impact on the forms of women’s clothing. In fashion, as in architecture, minimalism, functionality and simplicity were appreciated. It was believed that clothes should not only be pretty, but also practical. The outfit was not supposed to disturb, on the contrary, it was supposed to facilitate everyday activities.

On a daily basis, women usually wore a set consisting of an elegant blouse, a sweater and a knee-length skirt. To give the styling a more feminine character, they emphasized the figure with a belt at waist height in narrow skirts, coats or high-waisted trousers.

    The return of femininity!

Gradually, the flapper look cult, which was popular in the 1920s, began to be abandoned. Women no longer wanted to be tomboys, but mysterious femme fatales. There was a return to femininity. The female silhouette became more and more sensual thanks to the use of various types of materials in clothes. Transparents and lace, waisted jackets and perfectly fitted dresses, emphasizing the emancipation of women, became fashionable during this period. Even fur, which until now was not accepted, appeared in the women’s wardrobe. Among the colors triumphed powder pink.

During grand and solemn galas or banquets, long dresses, perfectly fitted at the waist and flared downwards, reigned supreme. On top, women put on fur shawls, and small trunks and clutch bags appeared in their hands. Her hair was styled in perfect waves, her lips were emphasized with lipstick in a bold color.

Sportswear, including swimwear, was increasingly popular. Two-piece outfits that revealed the waist began to appear. They were made of very flexible fabrics, thanks to which they fit perfectly to the body and emphasized the female figure.

Which trend from the 1930s is still present in your wardrobe?
