Cashmere clothing requires proper care. The safest option is a gentle hand wash. Remember to use detergents intended for washing cashmere clothes or delicate fabrics, and the appropriate water temperature – not higher than 30°. The high temperature causes shrinkage of the fibers and irreversible damage. Cashmere is a material that should not stay in water for long. Cashmere clothes can also be washed in the washing machine, just select the program for delicate clothes or dedicated to wool. In both cases, the clothes should be turned inside out. When you decide to wash by hand, remember that cashmere cannot be spun. Gently wrap your clothes in a towel and squeeze out excess water. After both machine washing and hand washing, it is necessary to dry clothes flat to avoid deformation of the fabric.
Compared to sheep wool, cashmere clothes are very light. The fibers are extremely delicate and susceptible to damage. When there are minor pilling, we can use a clothes shaver. Be careful not to cut the fibers.
Sweaters and thicker, heavier materials are best stored folded on a shelf, then we will avoid deformation of the material. Cashmere as a material is susceptible to attracting moths, to avoid this put a bag of dried lavender in the wardrobe. This plant has natural pest repellent properties.
