Power Dressing – strength and independence!
Nowadays, we are no longer surprised by a woman occupying a high position on her career path. This is a natural thing, supported by many features that women can make great use of at work or when running their own business. Good time management, perseverance, ambition and faith in what they do can bring huge successes and lots of positive energy. But is it enough to be successful? How does our appearance affect our performance?
How did it start?
Power dressing is the name of a style that was born in the second half of the 70s of the twentieth century, and fully developed in the early 80s of the twentieth century. This style was an expression of rebellion against the common belief that there is no place for women in business. It started with putting on men’s clothing: elegant trousers, knee-length pencil skirts, double-breasted jackets or full suits. Over time, thanks to the help of designers, the styles of “uniform” items of women’s clothing gained a more neat, fitted and modern look.
Contemporary “Power woman”
Thanks to their predecessors, ladies no longer have to fight for equal treatment in business, and power dressing has become a permanent fixture in their wardrobes. What is currently associated with power dressing?
With a woman who achieves great professional success, has power and is an ambassador of elegance and sophisticated style.
How to dress according to the principles of power dressing?
If your company does not require a specific dress code, it is worth having your own class and raising the level of your brand. It is noticeable that people working in high positions always wear shirts, trousers or skirts and suits. These are the basic elements of their wardrobe. Power dressing determines a certain rank and imposes a higher type of communication on the recipient and inspires greater respect and trust.
Elements of power dressing clothes
Shirts
In the case of women’s styling, we recommend shirts that gently lie on the body. However, a very interesting alternative for a hot summer are blouses inspired by shirts. They are much more comfortable while bringing the same stunning effect.
Pants and skirts
The basis of our lower part of the wardrobe – pants and skirts. In the case of pants, the ones with high waist emphasizing the length of our legs are very characteristic of power dressing. When we look at skirts, there is one main rule here – knee length and pencil cut.
Jackets
Classic cuts in subdued colors work best here. However, reading our previous article “Must Have 2020“, it is noticeable that bold colors this season will be just as appreciated as classics. Don’t be afraid to put on jackets for everyday stylizations and try “something” new!
Suits
The strongest and most characteristic element of women’s power dressing is a suit! Suits can be divided into classic and those following current trends. Patterned and expressive suits are a hot hit of summer 2020. Depending on the situation, other elements of the suit will work better. For more formal situations, we recommend a suit with a double-breasted jacket and long trousers with a narrower leg. In everyday situations, a single-breasted jacket with wider legs will work better.
