Spring Trends 2021

The SPRING / SUMMER 2021 collection by SPORTALM has arrived in our store, which presents the latest trends in a unique version. What elements are repeated and will stay with us for longer, and which are a breath of novelty in the current season? You will learn all of this later in the blog.

Spring colors

This season is a paradise for lovers of expressive colors! Sunny yellow, expressive red or intense green are only part of the spring palette that can be used. This does not mean, however, that more subdued stylizations will be “out of fashion”. This season, beiges, caramels, pastel colors (powder pink, mint, lavender, blue) and classic black and white remain with us.

The novelty of this season is french blue, which has been gaining popularity for some time now. This season, we don’t have to be afraid of pink in our stylizations. Powder pink, raspberry, ruby, dusty pink or fuchsia are the very fashionable colors of this year’s fashion shows.

The khaki color has also gained great popularity, which is already becoming more and more visible. In its “Mojito” collection, Sportalm focuses on an intense, bright and joyful lime color, which will surely appeal to fans of this brand.

The great advantage of this year’s spring trends is the possibility of unusual combinations of colors, e.g. pink with caramel or khaki with pink. Everything is allowed this season.

Flowers for this spring

The theme has been known to us very well for many years. This spring, we don’t have to wonder if floral clothes are still fashionable – even patterns from a few years ago will work perfectly. A novelty this season is combining flowers with other floral patterns. This gives us the opportunity to experiment not only with patterns, but also with colors. A perfect example of such a styling is the Cosmopolitan collection by Sportalm.

Stripes and geometric patterns

This is another of this year’s trends, which is strongly emphasized on the fashion catwalks next to colorful flowers. Vertical stripes, horizontal or diagonal motifs are this year’s proposal from Sportalm. Often these, as well as other elements combined in geometric shapes, but also geometrically (mirror) placed in relation to each other, are a fashion hit of this year’s trends. The chessboard motif or monograms also fit into the trends of the spring / summer 2021 season.

Spring prints

Prints related to nature, the development of which we have been observing for several seasons, stay with us for longer – spots, stripes, patches, stripes, but also the theme of nature – flowers, vegetation, animals or entire landscapes are an inseparable element of spring and summer fashion trends. Designs with patterns will surely appeal to ladies who like to add so-called “claw”.

Boho is still in trend

From the previous season we can enjoy the boho style. Loose trousers, skirts with frills, long and patterned dresses, capes and tunics, waistcoats, openwork and tassels. In this style, subdued colors are the basis, and all kinds of “holes” (openwork, fringes, mesh) are strongly visible in this year’s trends.

How to check your size?

The first thing we pay attention to when choosing clothes is its color, cut or decorations. However, what makes us look perfect in a given dress or pants is the size, properly suited to our figure. When buying in a stationary store, we have the opportunity to use the fitting room and adjust the size, although we often wonder what size of clothes to ask for. The situation is very complicated when shopping online. What size to order? We will answer this question in the next part of the blog.

The correct body measurements

The first step to finding your size is to measure your body. We use a tailor’s measure to measure each item. However, there are a few important rules to keep in mind when measuring:

1. Measure in underwear, it can add about 1 centimeter in our sizes, but it will definitely improve our comfort of wearing clothes.
2. When measuring, stand in a natural position – do not pull in and out your stomach, do not push out your chest and stand up straight.
3. Make sure that the tape measure is the same level on each side – an unevenly held tape measure shows an incorrect result.
4. The tape measure should not protrude from our body, and the more so cannot cut in, it should adhere to our body naturally – if we do not follow these recommendations, we will again receive incorrect measurement results.
5. If your result is between two sizes choose the smaller one, if you are looking for clothes that are more fitting – clothes for work, business meetings or evening outings. If you are looking for something looser, e.g. for home or meeting friends, go ahead and choose clothes from a larger size.
6. If bust and waist circumferences do not match (e.g. M bust and L waist – “swimmers” and “hourglass”) you should choose clothes in your size bust.
7. If hip and waist circumferences do not match (e.g. M hips and S waist – typical fit ” pears”) you should choose clothes in the size of your hips.

First of all, let’s separate our measurements into upper body and lower body measurements.

Upper body

1. 1. Bust circumference at the widest point (chest circumference) – this is one of the most important dimensions if we are considering buying a shirt, jacket or fitted sweater with buttons. Thanks to the correct measurement, these elements will not be tight and will not unsightly cling at the height of our bust. It is important to take this measurement in a bra.
   2. Underbust circumference– why is this measurement so important? Because thanks to it, we can choose and fit a bra well. If our bra is well-chosen, then measuring the bust circumference takes on a real meaning.
   3. Waist circumference at the narrowest point – remember not to pull in or push out the stomach. Measure it in its natural “position”. This dimension is present in most clothes. It will be useful both when choosing dresses, skirts and trousers.
   4. Sleeve length– a dimension that is particularly important when buying long-sleeved blouses, sweatshirts or jackets. The length of the sleeve is measured from the seam around the neck to the very end, including the cuffs, if any. Some manufacturers use the so-called short sleeve length, which is measured from the sleeve seam in the armpit area to the very bottom with cuffs, if any.

Lower body

1. Hip circumference at the widest point – a dimension particularly important when choosing the lower part of the garment. Thanks to it, we can choose the right width of our skirt or trousers. This dimension is also important when choosing a dress so that it does not tighten too much and does not lift while walking.
2. Leg length – this dimension is typically for trousers. When measuring the leg, we encourage you to measure it also from the inside. Some size charts choose this dimension as leg length. To measure this dimension, start measuring from the inside of the thigh and end at the ankle.

In addition to these dimensions,   Height is also important – that is, our height, it is often the basis for dimension tables.

It is always worth adding about 2 cm to the measurements to take into account differences between clothing manufacturers.

Dimension tables

What are these familiar unfamiliar boards? Of course, these are standardized size tables, using the average statistical dimensions of the inhabitants of a given region. The exception is the international size chart, which is used worldwide. This table is also valid in most European countries. Thanks to this chart, we can correctly determine our size after measuring our figure. It is the international table of dimensions that defines the ranges for the well-known and often used dimensions “XS” to “XXL”.

Sizes of clothes from different countries

In most cases, the size chart is adapted to the inhabitants of a given country due to their figure. For example, in Mediterranean countries, women are slightly taller than us, they are more developed in the chest and hips, which means that the sizes are inflated in relation to Polish sizes. We have a similar situation in France. Between French sizes and Polish sizes, the difference is 2 sizes. In the Netherlands, the size chart is no different from the Polish chart. Certainly, UK and US sizes can cause problems when choosing clothes. In Great Britain, the main unit of measurement is inches – hence the difference in the notation of size tables. A similar situation is in the United States, which, as we know from the pages of history, is a country originating from the British Colony. Below we present a comparison of the Polish size table to other countries, which will certainly help you choose the right size.

Winter sweaters – trends 2021

When the temperature outside the window is low, we are happy to take out sweaters from the wardrobes. This comfortable piece of clothing will not only warm us up during colder winter days, but will make our stylizations take on a new character. This season, many elements that set winter trends are a continuation of summer-autumn trends. Characteristic features that stay with us for several seasons are the colors and patterns of clothes.

Types of sweaters:

• Golfs– these are warm sweaters with a characteristic collar. The perfect winter sweater. The cut of the turtlenecks is characterized by a fit to the body, which is why they are perfect for ladies with an hourglass figure.
• Knitted sweaters – winter classics. Such sweaters are available both as fitted and oversized. This type is often decorated with lace or decorative elements. It will work both at home and outside.
• Cardigans – these are comfortable and oversize style cardigans. They perfectly cover the imperfections of the figure, which is why they are perfect for women with an apple figure. It should be noted that an oversized style can add a few pounds visually.
• Short sweaters – sweaters that are approximately belly button length. They are available in short and long sleeve versions. Such a sweater looks great in a set with elegant skirts and high-waisted trousers. They also look great as a cover over a dress.

Winter colors

Colorful sweaters should not be missing in our wardrobes. They give our stylization expressiveness and go well with white and black elements of clothing. And what colors are we talking about? Of course about pastels! The most popular colors of sweaters that reign this winter are:

• Mint
• Pink
• Blue
• Orange

In addition, sweaters with delicate decorations along the length of the sleeve and holes at the height of the forearms and shoulders are now especially fashionable!

Prints are still in fashion

Whether those with a simple or more sophisticated pattern – there should be at least one such sweater in our wardrobe. Patterns and prints on clothes have accompanied us since the beginning of summer, and this trend will definitely stay with us until the end of spring. Unusual geometric shapes and asymmetric or animal motifs are already a standard to which we have become accustomed and have become everyday.

What about composition?

When buying a sweater, pay special attention to the material it is made of. Here are some tips on raw materials:

• Wool– one of the basic textile materials. It is thanks to it that our clothes are warm and soft to the touch. The biggest downside, however, is its ability to felt, which makes it less pleasant to the touch. Wool is mainly used for knitwear.
• Cellulose fibres – i.e. viscose and modal, characterized by lightness and softness. They allow the skin to breathe, making them very airy. Clothes made of these materials are extremely durable and absorb moisture very well! However, because they are not natural fibers, they can shrink at too high temperatures
• Cashmere– is a material for many years. Cashmere is very durable, does not absorb odors and is resistant to dirt. In addition, it has storage properties, thanks to which it will always protect us from the cold.
• Mohair– this is wool from Angora goats originating in Tibet. It is characterized by a long fiber, great lightness and fluffiness and a beautiful gloss. The disadvantage of clothes with the addition of mohair is its tendency to pilling.
• Acrylic– the material is more and more often and more willingly used as a synthetic substitute for wool. Clothes with an admixture of acrylic are difficult to distinguish from wool with the naked eye, because the texture of these fibers is very similar. The advantage of acrylic is that it does not cause skin irritation and is ideal for allergy sufferers. Unfortunately, this material does not “breathe” and in addition has low resistance to abrasion or “pilling”.

Let’s remember that the main advantage of having a sweater is convenience – at work, during a meeting or at home sipping your favorite tea.
